NFL Thuggery, part 5,438
The NFL really is a pit for a bunch of obnoxious thugs who are held up as role models to kids-- role models for murder, domestic violence, drug use, and all-around bad behavior.
I have to ask-- why the hell is Bill Romanowski playing football tonight? Just two weeks ago, he seriously injured a teammate in a brawl during practice. This injury has put this player's career in jeopardy, and the incident is just the latest in a long string of bad behavior on Romanowski's part.
This is the kind of thing that turns me off to the NFL lately. For some reason, discipline does not exist, and winning counts for more than holding players accountable for their atrocious behavior. The sad part is that the total lack of a "punishment that fits the crime" shows which player the Raiders find more valuable. The injured was expendable.
After the incident, the coach said the following:
"It doesn't matter who it is," Callahan said. "When it gets to that severity, I'm going to level a discipline. It goes beyond the game. Once it's beyond the respect and dignity of a player, it's a tragedy."
He was suspended for ONE PRACTICE. So tell me, coach, why is Romanowski playing tonight?
