The NYT shows its true colors

In an unbelievable comment from the editor of the New York Times, Howell Raines, in an interview with NPR, said the following (paraphrasing, until I find the transcript):

"Jayson Blair made the staff better, but more importantly, made it more diverse."

HUH? Sorry, but what is most important in journalism? The ethnicity of the writer, or his/her integrity and quality of reporting?

The New York Times is on a slippery slope to irrelevance.

[This was reported on Fox News this morning.]
