I'll take earthquakes

There are people who wonder how we Pacific coasters can live with the threat of earthquakes. One look at this, and I consider myself lucky to live here. In the grand scheme of things, the occasional earthquake is a small price to pay for the weather and geographical diversity of California. Thank you for your concern. I'll be staying put.

A Sunday afternoon tornado demolished a Kansas City, Kansas neighborhood as seen from the air May 5, 2003. One of the deadliest tornado outbreaks in recent years killed at least 35 people in three U.S. states, wrecking entire neighborhoods and knocking out power to tens of thousands, officials said on Monday. Missouri reported at least 17 deaths, and neighboring Kansas seven, while 11 died in Tennessee from Sunday's twisters. (Dave Kaup/Reuters)
