Whatever happened to the demands for an open election in the Palestinian territories? They had one scheduled for the end of January, then canceled it a few weeks before, blaming Israel for having to cancel. Then Arafat appoints a Holocaust-denying Prime Minister, who, in turn, appoints a cabinet.
I'm sorry, but I just don't understand why this "government" deserves to govern a sovereign nation. They have not proven themselves worthy. They have not earned it. The United States needs to go back to pressuring for an election (not that it would make a difference, seeing how winning an Arab election with 99% of the vote is considered a failure), and put the onus on the Palestinians once and for all. When will they have to prove themselves? All they've proven thus far is their propensity to blame Israel for all of their woes.
